January 6, 2016 continued...

She's had an up and down day but overall it's been pretty good.

She was still fighting us on taking the stronger pain meds (they taste terrible) so the nurse asked if she could give her a prize if she would take it.  I agreed thinking that she would earn some stickers or something small.  The nurse brought in the prize while we were out for a walk and all 3 of us were shocked when we came back into the room.  She agreed to take the medicine and did so without a peep of complaint.

Grandma gave her two barbies.  She named them Morgan and Emily after our nurses today.

Her goals for today were:
1.  Pain Control
2. Go on 4 walks
3. Explore the Playroom

We have maintained her pain quite well.  She rotates Tylenol and Motrin and then has stronger pain med when she feels discomfort.  Her chest is definitely the most tender part.  She keeps a hand on her chest almost always, especially when she is walking.  She has been such a trooper.

We surpassed our goal and went on 5 walks today.  One trip to the playroom, three trips down the hall to shoot the fart guns (yes, you read that correctly), and one to see the fishtank.  She has made progress throughout the day and is now only attached to the drainage tube which makes it a lot easier to get in and out of bed.

Tonight my brother Ty & his cute wife Megan popped in for a visit and brought her some flowers.  We went for a walk so we could see baby Finn since he isn't allowed in this part of the hospital.  She perked right up and chatted away.  We loved having them here to visit!

While we were standing there with Ty & Megan, Lori Jenson, a neighbor from Wellsville, came out of nowhere.  Her son had surgery today so they are staying here as well so she came looking for us.  A tender mercy that we were able to meet in the hall.  There is something healing about connecting with a familiar face unexpectedly.  That woman is a gem.  We chatted for a few minutes before she introduced me to the Ronald McDonald Family Room.  The Lord is in the details.

Jared had dinner in the Ronald McDonald Family Room with Justin Jenson.  Add providing a meal there to our family bucket list.  Kambri and I ordered room service.  I wish we had that luxury at home ;).

She seems to do really well and then crashes.  Tonight she's really struggling to go to sleep.  She's hot, she's cold.  Everything hurts.  She's tired, she's not tired.  I'm afraid we have another long night ahead of us.
