We got an update about half way through surgery.  They had successfully removed the ribs and were closing her up.  Dr. Muntz was grafting the ear from the ribs and would be ready to start implanting soon.  That update offered much comfort and peace.

We continued to wait and finally Dr. Muntz walked into the room just after 5 pm, about a half hour before we expected him.  He came with great news.  Everything had gone just as planned.  The only hang up had been that the incision for removing the ribs was a little bigger than anticipated.  Instead of being a small straight line it is a T.  If you are going to have a hang up that's the one to have.  He gave us a long list of things to expect and things to watch for.  It looks like we will be staying until Friday or Saturday.  He touched briefly on the next 4 surgeries to follow before sending us back to the first waiting room to be called back to recovery.
