That last few minutes waiting to go to recovery seemed to take as long as the rest of the surgery.  We were so excited when they called us back.

She was just coming out of anesthesia and was in and out of it.  We had planned on videoing her but she didn't have a lot to say...other than calling me an elephant with a blue nose (just as she'd promised she would) and saying that Jared had 15 eyes and I had 20.  She did ask that Jared be quiet before requesting a slurpee.

We only spent a short time in recovery before they moved us to our new room.  My parents arrived right as we were moving so they tagged along with us.

After a long day, we finally got settled into a place of our own for the next few days.

We hadn't been in our room more than a few minutes when she had a visitor.  Quinn the poodle, a therapy dog.  I've never seen a more gentle & calm dog.  She was still pretty groggy but wanted to make sure that her animal lover cousin Ellie could see a picture.

She perked up just long enough to request a bowl of Mac&Cheese, another slurpee and to watch an episode of My Little Pony.

She finished every last bite but it took every last bit of energy she had and soon after she was out for the count.

Tonight our hearts are full.  It's been a good day.  We are grateful for miracles and answers to prayer.  The Lord is in the very details of our lives!  He is aware of us individually and loves us perfectly.  Tonight we are especially grateful for a beautiful little girl who has taught us incredible lessons in her short 6 years on this earth.  We are grateful for her nubin.  It breaks our hearts to change something we love so much about her but know it will be a good thing for her.  We are grateful for many, many tender mercies that have brought us to this point.

The messages have poured in throughout the day.  We are grateful for family and friends who care.  We are grateful for the countless prayers that have been offered, for the gifts that have been given and the kind words shared.  We are grateful to be surrounded by many amazing people!  Thank you!
